The Glou Wine & Bistro is more than just a place to cook. It is the core of a space built on comfort, wine, and quality food. Tucked in Jl. Wijaya, Melawai, Jakarta, Glou welcomes guests into a warm, easygoing setting. It’s also home to a kitchen designed with precision and heart, thanks to Nayati and Restomart.

The Meaning Behind the Name

“Glou” comes from “Glu-Glu,” a French term used to describe light and fruity wines. These are wines that are easy to enjoy and perfect for casual sipping. This playful idea defines Glou’s identity. It flows through the kitchen, the food, and the atmosphere. That spirit makes the Glou Wine & Bistro a natural extension of the name.

Inspired by France, Rooted in Jakarta

Glou’s story traces back to Chef Renatta’s time in France, where she trained at Le Cordon Bleu and fell in love with the effortless charm of neighborhood bistros. She often spent time in these cozy eateries, drawn to their unpretentious nature and the simple idea of food being “cooked by someone, not just served.” That same spirit of comfort and authenticity is now alive at Glou on Wijaya Street in Melawai, where diners can enjoy a meal that feels personal, not performative.

A Space That Feels Like Home

Glou was always meant to feel easy, homey, and approachable—a space where anyone can drop by, order a glass of wine, and pair it with a delicious, satisfying meal. It’s not about fine dining; it’s about good food that brings people together, served in a space that doesn’t feel intimidating.

Built inside an older building, the bistro has its own unique character and challenges. But rather than force change, the team embraced the structure’s limitations, working around its original design to create a functional and soulful space.

A Kitchen Designed for Simplicity and Excellence

For Chef Renatta and her team, the kitchen is more than just a workspace—it’s the engine of the entire experience. Building that kitchen within the constraints of an older building meant making thoughtful decisions every step of the way.

That’s where Nayati and Restomart came in, worked closely with the Glou crew from the start—surveying the site together, adjusting layouts to fit the space, and even crafting custom solutions to overcome challenges like ceiling height limitations. With Nayati equipment at its core, the kitchen is now efficient, durable, and fully equipped to serve Glou’s evolving menu.

Glou Wine & Bistro is more than a restaurant—it reflects Chef Renatta’s love for wine, her French culinary roots, and her desire to create a space where great meals are shared over great conversations.

Whether you’re sipping a glass of light-bodied wine or enjoying a warm, simple dish cooked with care, Glou invites you to unwind, connect, and feel right at home.
